Queen Isabella Blvd. Port Isabel, Tx. 78578 www.portisabel.org director@portisabel.org 956-943-2262 800-527-6102		Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce’s 25th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk The 25th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, as thousands of runners and walkers will cross the longest bridge in Texas between Port Isabel and South Padre Island. Online registration is now open and the first 2,000 to check in will receive a souvenir t-shirt. The 25th Annual promises to be bigger and better. Make plans to participate as a runner or as a walker, solo or with your running or walking club! Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female in each category and the top three male and female overall winners will walk away with a prize purse totalling $4,000! Last year's event broke new records with a total participation of over 2,781 walkers and runners—an increase of over 30% over last year's total. The 6.2 mile (10K) course started at the Port Isabel Community Center and ends in front of Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island. Awards ceremonies and lunch were held immediately following the race at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island. Walkers opting for the shorter 3k course could be transported by shuttle to the awards ceremony or back to the race’s starting point in Port Isabel. Trophies as well as cash prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners. First through third place trophies will also be presented in each of the 23 male and female age divisions.
