DESCRIPTION:  \nRegister NOW!! The 38th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk has been rescheduled for Saturday\, April 9th\, 2022. The date change was made to accommodate an ongoing maintenance project on the bridge\, followed by Spring Break. \nOnline registrations are open! http://bit.ly/38annualrun-walk  \nYou may download our registration form: 2022 38th Annual Causeway Run \nThe Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce will host its 38th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk on Saturday\, April 9th. \nThe 5K Walk and 10K Run will feature thousands of participants starting in Port Isabel and crossing the causeway. Walkers will end at the Padre Balli statue on the Island while runners will continue to the finish line at Louie’s Backyard. The run will start promptly at 7 am at the Port Isabel Community Center at 213 Yturria Street in Port Isabel. Walkers will start approximately 15 minutes later. Only the outside lane of the westbound side of the causeway will be closed for the run and it will reopen as soon as the last walker clears the bridge. \nWith more than 2\,400 participants in 2020\, run organizers say they are expecting a great turnout this year. \n“Everyone participating in the event will receive a custom medal commemorating the run and walk\,” said Chamber President Betty Wells. “Our medals have a stained glass look and have been very popular.” The first 1\,500 registrants to check in also receive an event T-shirt\, although sizes are not guaranteed. \nEntry fees for the Run & Walk start at $25 for students and military personnel with ID\, $35 for walkers\, and $40 for runners. Early bird registration will offer $5 off per registrant. Late registration will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at the Port Isabel Community Center at 213 Yturria St. and from 5:30-6:30 am at the Community Center on Saturday\, where the race begins. DESCRIPTION:The 29th Annual Shrimp Cook-off & Seafood Festival is scheduled to be held on site in the parking lot of Sutherland’s in Port Isabel on Saturday\, Nov. 5th. Dozens of professional and amateur chefs will be preparing their favorite recipes for thousands of festival attendees at a modest fee. Each contestant’s recipe will be judged on appearance\, aroma and taste by a select panel of judges. \nLive entertainment by The Agency\, vendors and exciting new challenges will be featured at the 2022 event. Gate fee is $5 per adult and children 10 and under are free. Hours of the festival are 10 am to 4 pm\, with winners announced in both divisions at 4 pm.

Below is everything you need to know to make race day smooth\, safe\, and unforgettable. \n  \n🚐 Shuttle Information (event day) \n• Before the Race From South Padre Island: Shuttle service will run from Beach Waterpark to the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 6:30AM \n•Before the Race From Port Isabel: Shuttle service will run from Sutherlands in Port Isabel to the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 6:30AM \n• After the race: Return shuttles from (Beach Waterpark) South Padre Island to (Sutherlands) Port Isabel will run continuously from the finish line area beginning at approximately 8:00 AM. \n• Please arrive early to allow time for boarding — the last shuttle to the starting line departs at 6:30 AM sharp from both locations. \n⚠️ Race Day Safety Rules \nFor everyone’s safety\, please keep in mind: \n• For safety reasons\, bikes\, scooters\, wheelchairs\, and any motorized vehicles are not allowed on the      Causeway. \n• Participants must follow all volunteer and law enforcement directions. \n•Children 5 years or older must have a registration on file (must be accompanied by an adult). \n• Bib numbers must be worn to cross the Causeway and board shuttles. \n• 5K participants may NOT enter Isla Blanca Park. \n• Stay hydrated — water stations will be placed along the route (there will be NO water station on the Causeway per TXDOT regulations)\, but you are welcome to bring your own personal water bottle. \n• When crossing over the Causeway\, please remain within marked lanes at all times. \n🎽 Packet Pick-Up Schedule \nPick up your race packets early to avoid the rush! \n• Mon.\, Sept. 8 – 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center \n• Tue.\, Sept. 9 – 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Fleet Feet (McAllen) \n• Wed.\, Sept. 10 – 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Weslaco Chamber of Commerce \n• Thurs.\, Sept. 11 – 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center \n• Fri.\, Sept. 12 – 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center \n• Sat.\, Sept. 13 (Race Day) – 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM – Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center \n(Due to long lines\, we cannot guarantee on-time check-in if you pick up on race day — please plan accordingly.) Note: If you did not register by August 12\, event t-shirts are first come\, first served. \nWe can’t wait to see you at the starting line and cheer you on as you cross one of the most scenic routes in Texas!
